STATE CHAPTER LEADERS

SMEDC state leaders reach out to members of his/her territories under the auspices of SMEDC Head of Missions.
A state leader receives 40% of all membership dues paid by members in his or her state.

· He or she must have been in business for at least five years

An intending state chapter leader will need to pay a one time
N10, 000.00 (ten thousand naira) to apply and must be interviewed and accessed by a committee.

Most SME operators remain unaware of the potentially growing pool of available SME funds in the economy. There is need that Governments and financial institutions realize the relevance of SME to the building and achieving the Millennium Development Goal (MDG).
There is often a gap between the SMEs expectations and the requirements of the Banks and other lending institutions.
Banks, lending agencies and other institutions should ensure that SME operators and their management team obtains training in Enterprise Management and other related fields before taking the risk to lend them fund especially the inexperienced SME operators.
We (SKIDI) are thus very pleased to see the SME industry stepping up to fill this gap.
In order to support the growth of SME sector of our economy we have been specially dedicated to help SMEs in Nigeria. We and other stakeholders in the SME industry are in a position to better understand and facilitate the financing needs of SME(s)

NATIONAL INTER CAMPUS BUSINESS QUIZ
SME Development Centre Presents National Inter Campus Business Quiz exclusively for students from business schools and management colleges of tertiary institutions in Nigeria and other management institutes.
Business Quiz contest dedicated to test the student’s knowledge in all aspects of Business such as Operation, Marketing, Management, Finance, IT, Investment and the Stock Market, brand names and a wide range of a related topic.
The rounds will be held in the six geopolitical zones. The regional rounds will be held at Lagos (South –West), Port Harcourt (South South), Enugu (South East), Kano (North West) ,FCT (Abuja) (North Central) and Bauchi (North East).
The schedule and venue shall be unfolded during the preliminary rounds.
The wining teams from each regional round will qualify for the national final to be held on June 14, 2009 in Lagos.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
The quiz competition guidelines are as follows:-
¯ *Open to students of Business & Management colleges of higher institutions and business Colleges and institutes.
¯ *A Team will comprise of two participants from same educational institution.
¯ *More than one team can emerge from an educational institution
¯ *The Registration fee is N5,000 per team

INSTRUCTIONS
Prelims: There will be a written elimination round for all contestants at each regional round.
The written prelim will be followed by the regional finals.
Regional Contests: The top three team from the written prelims will qualify for each regional final that will be held at the same venue. The winner for each regional final will move

¯ Team member cannot be changed after the prelims.
¯ The quizmaster’s /organizer’s decisions will be final.

NEED FOR SME DEVELOPMENT CENTRES
SME(s) Contribute to rural development, as well as support large industries and serve as catalyst for innovations and adaptation.
SME(S) Can be regarded as a source of Constant renewal in commerce and industry and as well serve as a platform for competition and dynamism.
SME(S) shares the biggest part in Nigeria economy in terms of number, contribution to employment, output and investment.
Nigeria Economic growth is thus totally dependent on the `development of

This competition is a brainchild of Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Development Centre (SMEDC), a sister project of SKILLS & IDEAS DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES (SKIDI) a non governmental organization dedicated to SME Training Development & Advocacy The key to poverty alleviation is economic growth that is inclusive and reaches the majority of people. Improving the performance and sustainability of local entrepreneurs including SME operators which represent the backbone of National activities can help achieve this type of growth.

Can the Government, Businesses, and SME stakeholders be able to ensure the growth of economic activities? Do government Programmes enough to address SME challenges? Are individual SME operators no matter their kind of venture felt the positive impact of the contributions of SME stakeholders or Government on SME Development?
